Leucorrhoea is a vaginal infection in which a woman experiences yellowish or whitish vaginal discharge. Women at first glance experiencing vaginal discharge might feel very embarrassed, and worried as they consider it as a disease, but it’s just an infection that can be cured with routine medications. It’s common to experience vaginal discharge a few days before menarche, sexual stimulations and during sexual fantasy.
However irregular vaginal discharge is quite normal and necessary for vaginal lubrication. But, having discharge in excessive amounts with a foul smell is also an indication towards potential threats to several gynecological conditions and infertility, and requires immediate treatment before it gets worse.
What are the symptoms of leucorrhoea?
The symptoms of leucorrhoea can be quite irritating, painful, and uncomfortable due to-
- Severe itching of the vulva
- Yellowish discharge with a foul fish-like smell
- Vaginal bleeding during menstrual cycle
- having severe pain in the abdomen
- Bleeding during sexual intercourse
- Lower back pain

What are the causes of leucorrhoea?
There are several conditions that causes Leucorrhoea include the following:
- Infection in female reproductive organs
- Hormonal irregularities
- Medical conditions like anemia, tuberculosis, etc.
- Poor diet with excessive ingestion of stimulants like tea, coffee, alcohol, and smoking
- Having emotional conflicts like stress, anxiety, work pressure, and sexual anxiety
- Menstrual periods
- Congestion of the uterus
- Having periods for the first time

Leucorrhoea occurs due to the vitiation caused in Kapha dosha. According to Ayurveda, human body is governed to three primary doshas that are-
